With more than Rs 5000 crore of deposit and 17 banks, THIS Indian village is one of the richest in the world
India has one of the richest villages in the world in terms of bank deposits and is located in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The village of Madhapar has around 7,600 houses and 17 banks and the owners of these houses reside mainly in the UK, USA, Canada and other parts of the world.
Although the villagers live abroad, they prefer to deposit their money in the village banks which have deposits worth over Rs 5,000 crore.
Agriculture plays a big role in the prosperity of the region and most of the agricultural products are exported to Mumbai.
Besides schools and colleges, there is also a state-of-the-art gaushala in the village. There is also a health center with world class facilities outside of the temples and playgrounds. With new lakes, control dams and deep artesian wells, there is fresh water all year round.
In 1968, an organization called Madhapar Village Association was formed in London. The office was opened for the residents of Madhapar village to meet. Likewise, an office was opened in the village so that direct connectivity from London could remain. It also helps the village people residing in the UK to have a close community and to keep the culture and values alive.
